The Science Of Hope – Episode 78

Video Highlights

- The two keys to leveraging opportunity.
- The only way to really fail.
- Thoughts become things.

Hi. I’m Dr. Eric Cobb, the founder of Z-Health Performance.

One of the greatest parts about my job is that I get to share with people what we call the science of hope, and I’m going to spend just a few minutes to explain to you some of the background behind findings that, in current neuroscience, that are really showing us that many of the things that have been taught over the course of the years actually do have a basis.

One of the jokes I make with people is that sometimes you wake up in the morning, and you’re hoping right away that you wake up as a different person tomorrow.

Well, the fact is you do, and the interesting about neuroscience at this point is that we’re figuring out that we can actually direct that process. There’s an old book out there that a lot of people have read, and one of the key tenets in it is that thoughts become things, and that’s kind of a strange idea, but it’s actually true.

An idea, practiced over, and over, and over actually changes the structure of your brain to make that idea easier, and easier, and easier to either hold, or perform, and most of us think of this as, “Yeah, I understand that. That’s creating a habit, breaking habits, etc.”

So, with that in mind, one of the things that we really like to tell people is that Z-Health is a system. It’s specifically designed to take all this information that may have sounded fuzzy years ago, and give you hard science behind it.

So, as you are looking forward in your life, think about a year from now, 2 years from now, 3 years from now, where do you want to be? Who do you want to be? How do you want to move through your life?

How do you want to interact in your relationships? How do you want to look? How do you want to move on the basketball court?

How do you want to move on the tennis court, because the chances are that if you don’t enact a plan soon to create a change, not only will you not have improved tremendously in that period of time, you probably will have actually degraded, because our bodies tend to go through this entropic process where we’re degrading if we don’t make intentional efforts to be better.

The beautiful part, as I said, is that your brain is wired to be better. If you give it the right stimulus over a period of time, it changes. So, like I said, this is why we call this, in essence, the science of hope.

The term that we’re really referring to is called neuroplasticity. If you haven’t read about, it should become a topic of study for you, because neuroplasticity basically says that your brain is plastic. It can change, it can mold over time, and while that may not sound that amazing, that’s actually a fairly new concept.

Years ago, really up until about 15, 20 years ago, most scientists thought, “You know what? Your brain, after you turn 23, 24 years old, it’s pretty fixed. It doesn’t change very much.”

The fact is, nothing could be further from the truth. You can grow new brain cells, and your brain can actually adapt and change its structure, to take on new tasks, new abilities, and then regain ones that have been lost through injury.

So, you have an opportunity in the coming years to direct your own personal evolution. That’s kind of a strange thought, but when you, as I said, look into the science behind all this, what used to be taught as a self help concept, is actually hard science, but we want to make sure that we are doing this in a way that is most optimal.

So, we in Z-Health Performance, talk about it’s not enough to just work on the thought part. You have to work on the body part, and so you need a system that allows you to go, “You know what? Is it possible that ongoing visual issues can actually maybe play a part in my pain that’s actually causing a part in my depression?”

Yes, is the answer. This is that idea that there’s a truly holistic view that you can take in a human body, without having to feel very alternative about it anymore. Our brains and bodies are inextricably intertwined, and what happens in one, definitively affects the other.

So, as you begin looking forward to the next few years, like I said, project yourself forward and go, “What am I going to change,” because you have an opportunity.

You have an opportunity to grow, to become more of who you’ve always known you could be. The key in this is to get good coaching, and to persist.

One of the things that we constantly tell people in all of our courses is listen; persistence is king. The road to success is littered with many, many, many small failures, and lots of successes, as well. We tell people the only way to really fail is to quit completely.

So, we’re going to encourage you. If you’re interested in changing your habits, changing your body, changing your eyes, changing how you moved, how you feel, how you experience life, give us a call, because we would love to share the science of hope with you, and there is a progression that we teach that we’re finding tremendous results with thousands of people around the world.

We look forward to talking to you.
