PLAY IS A NECESSITY

The skills and techniques to play the most common and popular sports that you were never taught.

9S:Skill & Style is considered by many Z-Health professionals as one the most important courses in the entire curriculum because of its focus on becoming a more efficient coach. Through the discussion and practice of high-speed motor learning principles, this course will not only introduce you to the fundamental movement patterns of all sports, but will give you a personal, immersive experience as an athlete.

THE MAJOR CONCEPTS COVERED IN 9S: SKILL & STYLE ARE:

Understanding Play as a necessity for high-speed motor learning and expertise development.

The play, flow, deliberate practice continuum.

The OPTIMAL motor learning theory and its practical applications.

Sports movement primitives – the underlying movement skills of natural athletes.

Critical teaching cues for major world sports.

Integration of sports teaching skills with movement neurology.

PROGRAM

One of the key tenets of neurology is that play is a vital tool for building better brains. Creativity and cognitive development based on novelty are driven when we play. Unfortunately, most health and fitness clients are rarely open to playing new sports or taking up new activities because they lack the fundamental skills to be successful.

This course is designed to make play more accessible through quickly and easily developing appropriate and trainable skills. Motor learning research has gradually reshaped the way that coaches and athletes/clients work together. In this certification we will review the relevant research from a practical perspective and implement these tools immediately.

The largest portion of this course is devoted to understanding the key sports movement primitives that are seen in high-level performers across all sports. The goal here is to simplify the learning and teaching of sports skills so that in a matter of a few hours of work you can open up a lifetime of new movement and play options for yourself and your clients.

Finally, this certification will focus on INTEGRATING everything you have learned from other courses and experience into the coaching process – expanding the neurocentric coaching perspective beyond simple pain relief into real world technical development.

OVER THESE FUN 4 DAYS, YOU WILL:

Learn the 7 most critical sports movement primitives, to quickly coach almost ANY sport.

Develop your skills in using video feedback and coaching to quickly improve performance.

Understand the OPTIMAL motor learning theory on a practical level.

Practice providing feedback to your athletes in the most efficient and effective way possible to promote immediate skill development and retention.

Gain personal experience and technical skills in 10 of the world’s most popular sports.

Learn through experience how to incorporate the 8 Levels Model into every coaching interaction.

Discuss the importance of play as a driver of neural plasticity and how to incorporate this information into your current practice.
